Fencing South and Fencing New Zealand invite you to attend the NZ National Junior Championships 2025 to be held at Claymore Swords Club in Dunedin on 12-13 April 2025

Eligibility:
To fence in the competition fencers must be under 20 years old on 1 January 2025.
Participants must be affiliated members of Fencing New Zealand who have paid their membership fee for the 2025 fencing year.

0830 Mixed Foil starts
1000 - 1030 Women's Epee registration*
1100 Women's Epee starts (As soon as Women's foil final is completed)
1215 - 1245 Mixed Sabre registration*
1330 Men's Sabre starts*
Men's Foil, Women's Sabre & Women's Epee Teams events are expected to start after individual events. Starting times will vary depending on completion of individual events.
Sunday 13th April
0730 - 0745 Women's Foil & Men's Sabre teams event registration
0800 Women's Foil & Men's Sabre teams event starts
0830 - 0900 Men’s Epee registration
0915 - 1000 Men’s Epee starts (Staggered start depending on availability of pistes)
Men's Epee Teams to start immediately after completion of individual event

Late entry closes on Sunday 6th April at 2359 and will attract an additional fee of $50. Late entry will be at the discretion of the Head DT and Head Referee.

Entry Fees
----------------
Individual Event: $75 per weapon + booking fees.
Team Event: $100 per team + booking fees.
For each weapon and gender combination there is an allowance for
a maximum of 2 teams per region. Regions may combine only if neither
could field a team on their own.
Team nominations need to be sent to DT by Sunday April 6th. Please ensure contact details of team manager are supplied

Competition Format
--------------------------------
Individual events: One round of poules (bouts to five points) followed by direct elimination rounds (bouts to 15 points). There will be no fence-off for Third Place.
Separate gender events will run except when a minimum of six participants in a gender is not achieved, in which case a mixed event will be fenced.
Team Events: Relay Matches to 45 points (Team members: min. 3, max. 4 per team)
Multiple Discipline Entry: If you are entered in multiple disciplines and the next discipline is scheduled to begin while you are still competing, it may be necessary for the event to start. In this event you may be expected to choose whether you continue competing in the ongoing discipline or withdraw to start the next event.

Awards

Medals: Gold, Silver and two Bronze medals will be awarded in each event.
Trophies: A number of National Trophies are awarded at this competition. Weapon related trophies will be presented during the medal ceremony for that event.
Attention Previous Winners and fencing community *** We are on a TROPHY HUNT *** Please return all trophies previously awarded, otherwise we cannot give them out.

Weapons Control

Thursday 10th April

Time: 6:00pm to 7.30pm All weapons
Friday 11th April

Additionally Weapons Control will be open one hour before the registration time of each event. Priority will be given to out-of-town fencers at this time. South fencers are expected to have had their weapons checked on Friday night at the.
Control marks: It is the fencer’s responsibility to ensure that all equipment that goes through weapons control has control marks. It is the fencer’s responsibility to ensure control marks are still present every time they go to the piste.
Video Refereeing:
Video Refereeing will be used for the final bout of all events. In all cases it will be used at the discretion of Head DT & Head Referee.
FIE rule t.122, is as amended and fencers will instead be required to salute each other, by way of acknowledging their opponent.
Drug Free: By participating in this event, you agree that you have been warned of the potential of being selected for anti-doping testing and you will comply with anti-doping testing if required. Piste Allocations and Results: Live results will be posted To FencingTimeLive.com and QR codes containing the link will be posted at the venue.

Podium Protocol
----------------------------
All Fencers must wear a School, Club or National Tracksuit Jacket and either breeches or tracksuit pants together with Fencing Socks and Shoes while on the podium. No hats, sunglasses or other casual attire are to be worn on the podium during the presentation.

Food

A small food stall will be run at the venue and there are a number of cafes in the vicinity of the venue which will open later in the morning. It is still advised that packed lunches and snacks are brought to the venue for competitors to ensure they are on site whilst competing.
