Event description
HYBRID EVENT
Building on the successes of Phase 1 of the Net Zero Australia (NZAu) Project, the team will be releasing its first Topical Report titled Updated Net Zero Pathways for Australia from the NZAu Project’s next phase.
The team from the University of Melbourne, the University of Queensland, and Princeton University will present and discuss important new analysis, including:
fresh insights on the roles of renewables, energy storage and firming including nuclear, carbon capture and storage and other complementary technologies;
the potential impact of current Commonwealth and State policies on our emissions trajectories;
the implications of technology build rates and other constraints on when we might achieve net zero;
where we may need new electricity, gas, hydrogen, and CO2 transmission; and
given these findings, what our priorities for domestic abatement should be.
The seminar will move to a panel discussion and finish with Q&A.
