Oakhill Community Soup - Know Aboriginal Food Sovereingty

Cal has engaged with various communities, especially in Victoria, having worked within Aboriginal food social enterprises. Their research explores the vital connections between Aboriginal food sovereignty and health and well-being outcomes. They explore how we can all, with what resources we have available to us, learn the ways to decolonise our palette and why this is so essential.
Please come along for a cuppa from 5pm for a 5.30pm start on Tuesday 10th September, to broaden our understanding on food justice in our community. We will begin dinner just after 6pm and taste what's growing in Poorneet season here on Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung Country. Further yarns over dish-washing are encouraged!
Community Meal
Farmers Jemma, Jesse and Oakhill Volunteers will harvest some produce from the farm and make some soups, sides and warm tea to share. We would love some help in the kitchen and to setup and clean up afterwards - please email jemma@sustain.org.au if you can come. We would like to contribute to a speaker fee for this event. If you're able to, please contribute a minimum suggested donation of $15 to cover costs for speaker fee and basic groceries for this and future community meals. No one will be turned away for lack of funds.
Accessibility: Oakhill Farm is accessible via wheelchair from 233 Tyler Street Preston. The farmhouse has wheelchair accessible ramps to enter the farmhouse, however the bathrooms are not wheelchair accessible. Some areas of the farm are accessible via concrete pathways and uneven earth and mulched surfaces. The closest 24hour accessible bathroom is at Northland Shopping Centre, 10 Murray Road Preston. There are various rooms indoors at Oakhill with desks, chairs, lamps, heaters and armchairs suitable for low sensory needs.
