Description

Using 100% reclaimed materials, participants at this workshop will create a range of recycled creations while learning skills using tools, fine motor control and design.

A fun and educational 2 hours for these holidays.

Suitable for ages 7 – 12.

Please bring a bottle of water per child.

The Bower Teaching Workshop at Summer Hill is a practical, hands-on learning space where people can build the skills to repair, reuse and maintain the things they already own.

Located within the Inner West Sustainability Hub, the workshop offers community classes in areas such as carpentry, furniture repair, home DIY, bike maintenance, basic plumbing, welding, upholstery and creative reuse. Each class is led by experienced facilitators and designed to give participants the confidence to use tools, understand materials and complete practical repair or making projects.

The workshop is central to The Bower’s mission to demonstrate the circular economy in action. We use reclaimed materials wherever possible, teach people how to extend the life of household goods, and show that many items can be repaired, adapted or repurposed rather than thrown away.

Alongside our retail stores, repair services and House to Home program, the Summer Hill Teaching Workshop helps turn environmental values into everyday skills. Every person who takes part is helping build a community that wastes less, shares knowledge and keeps useful materials in circulation for longer.
