Event description

The ABCs of OCD: A Primer for Diagnosis & Evidence-Based Treatment

The International OCD Foundation reports that the average person with OCD struggles for 15 years before they receive an accurate diagnosis and best-practice treatment. OCD symptoms often do not fall within stereotypes of OCD and therefore can be difficult to recognize. This interactive workshop will assist behavioral health providers in recognizing and diagnosing OCD in its various subtypes, including presentations that may be referred to as “pure-O.” The trainer will discuss case formulation and the basics of treatment using CBT with Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), which research shows to be a first line treatment for OCD and related disorders. Participants will also be introduced to Inference-Based CBT, a ground breaking newer treatment option with promising research support.

See below for information on Kyrie Russ, the presenter. If you'd like to get a sense of her style and an intro to facing our fears with exposure, check out her recent Practical Psych Podcast episode, The Science of Fear and How to Master It.
