Ocean Lovers Festival - Action - MICROPLASTIC HUNT
Event description
OCEAN LOVERS FESTIVAL - Action - Microplastic Hunt
Join AUSMAP for an incredible hands-on experience where you can sample your local beach for microplastics using the AUSMAP microplastic citizen science method.
By participating, you'll contribute valuable data to the largest microplastic database in Australia—and possibly the world! Did you know that Manly Cove holds the record for our longest-running microplastic dataset?
This family-friendly event welcomes all ages. Bring your loved ones along to learn about the impact of microplastics and become a scientist for the day! Together, we can make a difference and HELP put microplastics on the map.
The day’s activities are in collaboration with the Cove Collective and include:
🌊 A beach clean-up with @eco.adventure.crew
🔬 A citizen science session with @ausmap_au
🤿 A “Strawkle” experience with @operationstraw
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
We’ll provide gloves and bags, but please come prepared with sun-smart clothing, enclosed shoes (ideally ones that can get wet), and a hat.
We can’t wait to see you there and work together for a cleaner, healthier coastline!
WHEN: Sunday 2nd March, 2025 (Time TBC)
WHERE: Manly Cove
