"Create Boulder Nights" at eTown Hall

On October 3rd, Create Boulder, in association with eTown, presents the third installment of Create Boulder Nights at eTown Hall.

Create Boulder Nights is a quarterly event series taking place at eTown Hall, introducing the community to the diversity of performing arts in Boulder in a fun and exciting social setting.

The evening will feature performances from the Boulder Ballet, Colorado MahlerFest and the Boulder Symphony.

Casual Happy Hour with drinks and very light bites will be included at eTown Cafe, beginning at 5 pm. The show will begin promptly at 6 pm.

The goal of the series is to enjoy a Happy Hour with the arts organizations and friends and introduce you to performances you may not otherwise experience. Throughout the evening, each participating organization will share a short performance, offering a preview of the music, theater, film or dance that make Boulder’s arts community so vibrant.

Boulder Ballet 

Boulder Ballet connects people through the transformative power of dance, bringing together exceptional artistry, education and community engagement. For more than four decades, the organization has served Boulder and the Front Range through professional performances, year-round dance training and accessible programs for people of all ages and backgrounds.

At Create Boulder Nights, Boulder Ballet dancers will share excerpts from [In]Human, a bold exploration of what it means to be deeply, unmistakably human. Through virtuosic movement, emotional depth and contemporary choreography, the performance invites audiences to experience dance as a space for connection, vulnerability and shared humanity.

Colorado MahlerFest 

Colorado MahlerFest celebrates the life, legacy and music of Gustav Mahler who composed the biggest and best symphonies. MaherFest will celebrate its 40th anniversary season in May 2027 with a performance of Mahler’s Symphony No. 8 that will involve approximately 350 performers including the Boulder Chorale, Boulder Children’s Chorale and Colorado Springs Chorale in a five-day festival featuring an opera, a hike, lectures, a new work commissioned for the occasion and much more, including the original version of Songs of a Wayfarer with CU-Boulder Associate Professor of Voice, Abigail Nims.

Colorado MahlerFest’s Principal Violist, Lauren Spaulding, whose album recently won a Grammy, represents the vocalist in this unique arrangement of Gustav Mahler’s Songs of a Wayfarer at Create Boulder Nights. Mahler composed the music and wrote the lyrics, a touch of autobiographical, based on the premise of a young man betrayed by the woman he loves, driven by grief to wander the countryside. Representing Mahler as the original “Emo” musician, the music expresses extreme ranges of emotions from “Isn’t it a lovely world” to “I have a burning knife in my breast” to “Stillness everywhere.” MahlerFest Artistic Director, Kenneth Woods, created this arrangement for viola and folk ensemble and plays guitar in this performance.

Boulder Symphony 

Boulder Symphony & Music Academy connects people to the power of music through inspiring performances, lifelong learning, artist development and community engagement. Since 2010, the organization has brought together professional musicians, students, families and community partners through orchestral concerts, music education and accessible programming for people of all ages.

At Create Boulder Nights, a Boulder Symphony string ensemble, led by Artistic Director and Conductor Devin Patrick Hughes, will perform music by the Beatles, Coldplay, Massenet and Max Richter, showcasing the range of string music across classical, contemporary and popular styles. The musicians will also join Boulder Ballet for a collaborative performance featuring music from Philip Glass’s "String Quartet No. 3, Mishima."
