October ABCC - A Night Under the Stars
Event description
If you missed out on our September ABCC Under the Stars, don't worry because we are running another one on October 18-19 just for you!
Join us for a unique, fun, hands-on overnight camp designed to help you gain the skills and confidence to explore our City of Whittlesea bushlands and beyond.
If you are new to Australia or to camping, come along and learn Australian bush camping skills and be supported to sleep overnight in your own tent in a safe, beautiful bush campground.
What you will learn:
• How to select a safe camp site and set up your tent (without tears and tantrums!)
• Safely building, managing and extinguishing a campfire
• Campfire cooking basics
• Bush navigation – how not to get lost
• Bush first aid and safety around snakes and spiders
• Night-time spotlighting for native wildlife
• Listen to stories and a didgeridoo around the campfire
You will also get practice in packing and knowing what to take and what not to take!
We know just how beneficial being outdoors in nature is for your health and wellbeing, which is why we have developed this program to give you the confidence and knowledge to safely spend time in Australia's amazing outdoors.
Come along with your friends and family to enjoy an evening around the campfire filled with bush music and traditional Australian camp food. Experience the magic of sleeping under the stars and waking up to the sounds of birdsong.
Our campsite offers all the comforts you need, including a camp kitchen, toilets, showers, and backup bunk beds. Tents or swags will be provided (although if you have your own tent, please bring it and use it!)
You will need to bring your dinner, breakfast and snacks and your bedding (a sleeping mattress, pillow and sleeping bag.)
Rob Richards will contact you before the event to ensure that you have sufficient gear for an enjoyable experience.
