Event description

October BCA Inform

Are you interested in a leadership role with BCA, either as a director of BCA, state representative on the National Policy Council (NPC), or for members based in New South Wales, a position on the NSW/ACT State Division Committee? Maybe you are not quite ready to stand for election, but are interested in learning more about what it means to be on one of these committees? Then October’s BCA Inform is certainly for you.

During BCA Inform you will hear from Fiona Woods, President of BCA on what it means to take on one of these roles. You will also hear from Joanne Chua, BCA Director, Neale Huth, Queensland Representative to the NPC, and Kristy Fitzgerald, Deputy Chair of the NSW/ACT State Division. These three BCA members will share with you their experiences of joining these committees. There will also be plenty of time for you to ask any questions you may have in relation to BCA’s Committees, standing for election, and the upcoming Annual General Meeting.

In the coming weeks you will receive BCA’s Notice of Annual General Meeting which will contain all the information you will need in relation to which positions are currently up for election, and the election or expression of interest process required. The information will also be made available on BCA’s website in late September 2022.

This year, the positions include:

Director of BCA’s board (3-year term)

  • There is one director position up for election this year. Currently, the position is held by Doug McGinn. Doug is completing his first 3-year term and is eligible to stand for election again, in line with BCA’s Constitution.

Representatives for the NSW/ACT State Division Committee (2-year terms)

  • There are three positions available on the NSW/ACT State Division Committee this year. These positions are currently held by Ben Clare, Suzy Hudson, and Mark Schofield. Each of these representatives is eligible to stand for election again, in line with BCA’s constitution.

Representatives for the National Policy Council (2-year term)

  • This year, BCA will be trailing a new approach to stand for the National Policy Council, we will be using an Expression of Interest process. The full details of how this will work are outlined in the Notice of the Annual General Meeting.
  • There are 4 positions available to submit an Expression of Interest for. They are New South Wales, South Australia, Tasmania, and Western Australia.
