October Culture Night: Traditional Ceremonies
Description
October Culture Night: Traditional Shona Ceremonies
Traditional Shona ceremonies bring people together to mark important moments in life and community, often through music, singing, dancing, food, storytelling, and shared ritual. More than a gathering, they create a space for people to celebrate, remember, honor those who came before, and strengthen the ties that hold a community together.
With just 10 spaces available, we’ll gather in our beautiful backyard at our new home to create the feeling of being outdoors in kumusha — one's rural home in Zimbabwe, where people live, work, gather, cook, and share stories.
Our Shona friend, Farai Makombe, will join us to introduce us to aspects of Shona spiritual cosmology, followed by stories and personal experiences of ceremonies in Zimbabwe.
Come curious!
