    Event description

    Movement - Expression- Connection- Reverence

This event, created by Chelsea Amber, is a ceremony of connection, Cacao, guided movement, and free-form dance medicine in a downtempo-esque container. The pace is slower...like a steady burning flame, inviting us to drop deeper into presence with every delicious movement.

This October our theme is 'Metamorphosis'- change of physical form, structure, substance, character, appearance, or condition. A transformation.

We all experience change. How do we step out of the different chapters of our lives with purpose just as much as we step into them? Can we honor the different cycles and versions of ourselves with reverence? Can we welcome and accept the natural, perhaps even biological resistance to change that we all experience? How can we hold ourselves with love and grace amongst the continuous cycles of birth and death that we will experience individually and collectively throughout our lives? .... We will explore this in micro and macro ways this month- through the body, through dance, through movement, in ceremony.

Special guest creators for this month will include Rani Joy sharing an embodied connection warm-up, Medicine Hand (Tyler Wilmoth) spinning our movement journey, and TBA sharing closing sound. I so hope you will join us on our journey this month!

Please do your best to arrive on time.

Medicine Hand - live vinyl DJ set
With a deep love for vinyl and bass-heavy sound system music, Tyler Wilmoth’s DJ and producer alter ego, Medicine Hand, first laid down roots half a lifetime ago. Co-founder of Subtle Sunrise, Tyler hosted Santa Cruz’s full moon gatherings for several years, creating sacred space for the free expression of movement and community. His dedication to guiding intentional and soul-expanding journeys for thousands of fellow beings set the framework for an underground dance world connected in movement and grounded in nature.

Pausing to travel the world and further refine his art, Tyler drew musical influence from early UK Dub (Outlook, Croatia), West Coast bass music (Shambhala, BC), Ecstatic Dance (Kalani, HI) and various heart-centered cacao and kirtan ceremonies throughout Guatemala and Central America. As a dancer and dedicated meditator, yogi and qigong practitioner, he weaves these various musical styles into his own prayers and offerings.
Come boogie down to some sweet sweet vinyl and experience a lovingly crafted journey through sound, movement, and self.

    About the Cacao:
Cacao is a delicious, heart-opening medicine with indigenous roots all over the world. Drinking cacao in ceremony where one is invited to connect with the spirit of cacao and invite it into the heart space can bring profound healing experiences, especially when combined with movement such as dance. Cacao is just one more way to infuse Love into your dance!

The cacao we will drink comes from Alta-Verapaz, Guatemala and was processed in Lago Atítlan, Guatemala by a collective of women indigenous to Lago Atítlan. This ceremonial-grade cacao, 'Ruk'u'xUlew', means 'heart of the earth' in Kaqchikel, one indigenous language of Lago Atítlan. We will collectively gather in ceremony to serve and bless the cacao before we drink! To learn more about Ruk'u'xUlew Cacao, visit https://www.rukuxulew.com.
