Description

Dear Inner Development friends,

Come join our next virtual monthly meet-up and practice session for our Sydney Hub on Tuesday, October 3rd, at 7pm - 8:15pm AEDT (please note time zone change).

October’s theme is an ‘inside-out’ way of seeing how the IDG framework powerfully affirms the natural capacity we have as change-makers for cultivating our practical wisdom through lived experience over the course of life, by connecting and being guided by our inner compass.

Join in the discussion and hear from others sharing their journey as change-makers with duo-ethnographic hosts Wendy Harper and Jennifer Barker-Burns.

We encourage you to forward this on to others who you feel would benefit from a community in which to explore inner development.

More about the theme

The focus we are bringing to this session is the understanding that the IDGs is a framework that helps describe what human beings have done naturally for millennia and how we can use the framework to affirm and further develop our practical wisdom and the value and increased agency that comes from lived experience.

We will step away from an expert-led session model. Instead Jennifer and Wendy invite you to hear from others on how building their change-maker projects has driven their inner development (in what ways and how). And we welcome you to share your story too. Questions you will hear answered for you to consider if you wish to share:

- What’s the difference you’re stretching to make happening in the world?
- In what ways have you had to grow and develop to make this difference?
- What practices have you found best support your inner development?
- In what ways do you see your growth and development dovetailing with the IDG’s framework?
- What skills and qualities in the IDGs framework would help you achieve the next level of your mission?

What to expect

  • practical exercises (individual & group) you can apply in your work
  • opportunities to network with others across sectors
  • a supportive space for experimentation and discussion

What are the Inner Development Goals?

Inner development is about developing our inner capacity to respond to an increasingly complex environment and challenges.

The IDG framework was created to help accelerate the work towards the UN Global Goals or SDGs.

"In 2015, the Sustainable Development Goals gave us a comprehensive plan for a sustainable world by 2030. The 17 goals cover a wide range of issues that involve people with different needs, values, and convictions. There is a vision of what needs to happen, but progress along this vision has so far been disappointing. We lack the inner capacity to deal with our increasingly complex environment and challenges. Fortunately, modern research shows that the inner abilities we now all need can be developed. The IDGs will provide an essential framework of transformative skills for sustainable development, a field-kit (in co-creation now) on how to develop these necessary skills - open source and free for all to use. The current IDGs framework represents 5 dimensions and 23 skills and qualities which are especially crucial for leaders who address SDGs, but fundamentally for all of us!  It is the greatest possible accelerator to reach the Sustainable Development Goals and create a prosperous future for all humanity.
