October school holiday program | Kids nature photography workshop

Calling all future photographers! Ready to level up your photo game?

Join us at the South Australian Museum for an awesome school holiday workshop just for ages 6 to 15! To celebrate the 2024 Australian Geographic Nature Photographer of the Year exhibition, we’re teaming up with Atkins Lab to bring you a super cool 1-hour session on making the most out of your smartphone camera. 

You'll be shown all the tricks of the trade, from finding the best lighting to framing your shots like a pro. Then, you’ll get to try out these tips yourself while snapping pics inside our Discovery Centre. And here’s the best part: you can even have your favourite photo printed by the experts at Atkins Lab! Don’t miss out on this chance to boost your photography skills and have a blast while you’re at it!

Please note: this is a bring your own device event, a phone or tablet is preferred, but other devices are welcome.

Important Information:

• This is a beginner's workshop, and no prior photography experience is required.
• Please bring your own device for taking photos, as the Museum is unable to provide one, please make sure it is fully charged and ready for use. Each participant will need their own device.
• This workshop is aimed at children aged 6 to 15 years. All participants need a basic understanding of how to use their device's camera function and to be able to operate their device independently.
  
• An accompanying adult is required to stay with the participant for the duration of the workshop, accompanying adults do not need a ticket.
• This workshop does not include entry to the Australian Geographic Nature Photographer of the Year exhibition. Tickets to the exhibition can be booked here.
• After the workshop participants can email their favourite workshop photo which will be printed and available to collect at a later date. Further details will be provided at the workshop.
