Distance: ~9.3 km return | est. 3 hrs | Easy-moderate

Let’s head out to Square Rock for a stunning winter hike through alpine forest and sweeping views of the Brindabella Ranges. This 9.3 km return walk includes a detour to Orroral Valley Lookout, light undulations, and a short metal ladder climb at the summit. In mid-June, snow is likely — so think warm layers, solid shoes, and gloves.

What to bring:

✔ Warm layers, gloves, beanie
✔ Packed brunch/lunch
✔ Thermos, trail snacks
✔ Waterproof outer layer

⚠️ Expect snow, ice, and sheer drops at the top — take care
🚗 ~1 hr drive from Belco — we’ll carpool where possible
