Description

How can we create community services that are more inclusive of people with intersecting identities?

There is a push for services to be more inclusive of diverse people and diverse experiences. Intersectionality recognises that the causes of disadvantage or discrimination do not independently exist, but intersect and overlap through identities and can affect people in different ways.

In our next Office Hours, our Senior Service Designer Yen Eriksen will explore intersectionality as a conceptual key to unlocking this inclusiveness and how it can shape better outcomes for communities.

We will be joined by Emma Sinclair from the Sexual Assault & Family Violence Centre who will chat about their organisation's approach to applying intersectionality and how it has worked within their service so far.

What does intersectionality really mean in the community sector context? How do we embrace intersectionality in service design? How do we take it from the theoretical into the real world?

Who should attend?

This conversation is best for people working in the community sector or government services, consulting, and academia - working to deliver, design, understand or manage services with users with complex lived experiences and multiple identities.
