Offline Book Club - Silent Reading Session 30 Sep

Looking to join an Offline Book Club event but unsure if you'll finish the book in time?

This is for you.

Come along to a silent reading sessions hosted by Ruby (Literary Luddite) at Broad Church in Chippendale.

These intimate events are designed to help you log off and lock in with what you would rather be doing.

Read, journal, or sketch to a vinyl record soundtrack.

Ticket price includes:

• Admission to the private venue

• A drink on arrival (wine or non-alcoholic options available)

• Light snacks

• The chance to leaf through the Broad Church Library and titles suggested by Literary Luddite

• Two hours to read, journal, and meet new people

Event schedule (below timings are approximate, and just to give you an idea of how things run!)

6:30pm: arrival, introductions, mingling

~6:45 - 8:15pm: focused reading time. Speaking is not completely forbidden, but keep in mind people are here to read! People often report the first ~30 mins they struggle to focus, but after this passes they hit their stride and are absorbed into reading for the next hour.

8:15pm - 8:30pm: discussions among the group about what you've been reading, how you found the session, exchanging book recommendations etc.

Other admin:

• Kobos / Kindles / eReaders are allowed! iPads might be pushing the friendship

• If you don't have a book there will be a selection of titles for you to borrow for the duration of the event

• You can read anything, or use the time to write or draw. Just keep your phone away as much as possible

Come alone or bring a friend, just make sure your phone is on do not disturb!
