Oi Musica presents... The Sunday Get Down

The Sunday Get-Down is back! And we're returning to the Wee Red Bar for another Big Brassy evening. Last time round was sold out - with a lovely crowd, brilliant vibes and a packed dance floor. We welcome back Sula Food, who'll be serving tasty hot dishes and sweet treats for the perfect evening of food 'n' music. A tea-time double header for those who like their music brassy!

Opening the night, Scotland's only Cuban Big Band provide a relaxed and informal sharing of brand new material. This group is unique, with an invited percussion section laying down authentic Afrocuban rhythms, and an open access horn section + singers bringing the melody. La Timbala and Oi Musica specialise in high quality, open access music education, and this band is a brilliant example of where inclusivity meets excellence. Directed by Cuban music expert Christian Weaver (Manchester) and supported by Oi Musica musicians.

Then Shunpike Social Club takes over, directed by percussionist Sam Ward-Hardy and Oi Musica Creative Director Marcus Britton. A joyous collective of brass, reeds, rhythm and bass, Shunpike brings the street party every time. Brazilian rhythms, South African tunes, songs from New Orleans and more: what better way to wrap your weekend and head into Monday with a spring in your step?

The venue is situated in the ground of the Edinburgh College of Art (ECA). There are accessible parking spaces in the grounds, about a 1 minute walk from the entrance to the venue. The venue is on ground level, no stairs are required to access. There is an accessible toilet at the venue, which is up a ramp.
