About Chika

Hello, I'm Chika Iwami, the founder of Chika's Japanese Home Cooking. Originally hailing from Hyogo, Japan, I've been proud to call Melbourne my home since 2006.

Growing up, many of my recipes were lovingly passed down from my mother, a remarkable cook and an inspiring woman. She not only imparted the recipes but also instilled in us the philosophy of cooking and appreciation for food. Throughout our childhood, she emphasized the importance of eating locally and in season, being curious about new ingredients and techniques, and making the most of every part of an ingredient—values that continue to shape my approach to cooking.

With roots in both Japan and Australia, my culinary passion lies in blending local produce with the honest style of Japanese home cooking. I am eager to share my experiences with fellow food enthusiasts and continuously expand my knowledge of food. I hope you'll find joy in the culinary journey we embark on together.
