PORTRAIT DRAWING with CLAIRE BRIDGE is an 8-week class tailored for people of all skill levels, from novice to advanced. Whether you are a complete beginner, unsure about where to start, or an experienced artist wanting to enhance your skills, this class offers a variety of practical exercises to develop your drawing skills, establish confidence and draw realistic portraits.
You will learn:
- How to draw a realistic portrait from photos
- A step-by-step approach to drawing the human form in the classical style
- A rapid approach to the traditional techniques of old masters
- Structure of the human head
- Proportion
- Composition
- Tone and Value
- How to draw with increased accuracy
- How to create the illusion of 3-dimensional form on paper
- Techniques and materials to bring your portraits to life
This class is geared toward enhancing observation skills, increasing dexterity, fostering curiosity, experimenting with materials and boosting confidence.
Each class builds on the previous session.
ABOUT CLAIRE BRIDGE -Â Claire Bridge is a local artist working across drawing, sculpture, ceramics, painting, video and installation. Her work navigates cultural and ecological hybridity, blending and reframing cross-cultural mythologies, archetypal symbolism, and intimately personal biographies. Skilled in classical and contemporary techniques, Claire shares a wealth of knowledge with her students.
COURSE DATES - 8 x Weekly Wednesday Class 1.30pm to 4.00pm Starting from the 29th of January 2025.
