Old Plates Birthday Week! Tuesday 12th with The Shackmen
Event description
Everybody's favourite bar/record store Old Plates is celebrating their 3rd birthday with a full week of live music and revelry. Starting Monday August 11th, seven of Melbourne's finest bands are playing intimate shows across the week, with each night recorded by audio wizard Myles Mumford (Rolling Stock Recording Rooms). The recordings will then be turned into 7 x 7" records, the beginning of Old Plates as a record label. Each night will have very limited tickets available, a rare opportunity to experience incredible bands in an intimate setting and actually be a part of the recording. Applaud and you'll be a part of the 7" for all posterity!
Tuesday we bear witness to the jazz-funk explosion of The Shackmen, in essence the long-time engine room of local legends The Bamboos. They mine the incredible vaults of labels such as Prestige, Blue Note and CTI for the funkiest gems known to man, while leader Lance Ferguson on guitar channels his inner Grant Green.
Please note: ETA for 7" is approx 12 weeks, cost includes shipping within Australia
