Description
Program overview
The OLS Nebula program is a comprehensive 6-week open science training program. The program integrates practical training with individual coaching, supporting participants to apply open science principles, skills, and tools in their work.
Who is this training for?
The Nebula program is designed for participants at any career stage: researchers, research-supporting staff, and people who want to integrate best practices for open and reproducible research in new or ongoing projects. It is of particular interest to individuals or teams seeking to develop or improve an Open Science strategy or Data Management plan for their research.
Training format and content
The program covers NASA's Open Science 101 Curriculum. Each week, we explore one open science module, with expert speakers from different scientific domains guiding hands-on learning. Synchronous training sessions take place on Zoom, twice a week. The sessions are delivered in English. Individual participants or teams meet with an expert for personalized feedback on their work.
Participants will share a short presentation on their work as a graduation requirement. Upon graduation, participants receive a digital badge certifying their completion of NASA’s Open Science 101 curriculum.
The expected time commitment for this training is 4 h per week.
Key dates
Registrations will stay open until May 18th at midnight UTC. A short selection process might take place in case the number of applications exceeds the number of seats we can offer. The next cohort starts on June 2nd, 2026, and ends on July 9th, 2026, with synchronous training sessions running from 08:00 - 09:30h PST / 15:00h to 16:30h UTC / 16:00h - 17:30h UTC+1 on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

The Nebula training requires a commitment of about 4h per week. How will you accommodate the time needed to complete this program?
How do you imagine yourself applying what you learned in the program 6 months to one year after you complete it?
We will provide a small number of minigrants to lower the barriers of low bandwidth internet connections by providing a small amount (paid after graduation) to cover expenses with data packages purchases. We have a limited capacity to provide these minigrants, but we do want to support those who need it. Please check this box if you want to apply for the minigrant, and we will contact you with more information before the cohort starts.
Programme is free of participation, but we do welcome 'solidarity payments' of any amount in order to support the programme and the microgrants for those who need it the most.
