Description

ABOUT THIS EVENT

Australia’s capacity for large-scale genomic research is about to grow significantly.

A new $10 million ultra-high-throughput genomics facility at Flinders University is set to significantly expand Australia’s capacity for large-scale genomic research. Established in partnership with the South Australian Genomics Centre (SAGC), Bioplatforms Australia (enabled via NCRIS) and Decode Science, the facility combines the MGI DNBSEQ-T20x2 sequencing platform with advanced laboratory automation to deliver unprecedented sequencing capacity and cost efficiencies. To demonstrate its capability, the facility also plans to offer 5,000 human whole genome sequences at no cost to eligible Australian universities and research institutes. This presentation will introduce the new capability and explore how greater scale and affordability can support more ambitious research across genomics, transcriptomics, epigenomics, metagenomics, single-cell and spatial biology.

This seminar introduces the new facility and explores how greater scale and affordability can support more ambitious research across:

genomics · transcriptomics · epigenomics · metagenomics · single-cell · spatial biology

SPEAKER

Joel Bathe
Business Development Manager
South Australian Genomics Centre (SAGC)

Joel will walk through the facility’s capabilities, the partnership model behind it, and what this means for research access and sequencing costs in Australia.
