About the trip

Join the City of Ballarat Ageing Well Services team for a supported train trip to Maryborough, a picnic in the park (catered by a local bakery) and a tour of the historical Maryborough Railway Station with opportunities to socialise and enjoy a relaxed day out.

Cost: $10 per person
Who Can Attend: Ballarat residents aged 55+
Places Available: 16
Bookings: Via Humanitix (maximum 2 people)

What's included

• Return V/Line train travel from Ballarat Railway station to Maryborough Railway Station

• Catered picnic lunch in the park

• Guided tour of the historic Maryborough Railway Station

• Opportunity to meet new people and enjoy a day out together

• Support from Ageing Well Services staff throughout the day

Picnic Lunch

Lunch will be provided by a local bakery and enjoyed as a picnic in the park. Please advise of any food allergies, intolerances or dietary requirements when booking so catering arrangements can be made. Participants will receive:

• 1 sandwich (choice of chicken & salad, ham & salad or salad)

• 1 party sausage roll

• 1 slice (choice of apple, vanilla, carrot cake, lemon) or gluten free citrus tart

Please bring

• Water bottle

• Sun protection and clothing suitable for the weather

• Picnic rugs provided. BYO chair if needed

Timeline

• 10:30am - Meet at Ballarat Railway Station Platform 1

• 10:47am - Train departs Ballarat

• 11:43am - Train arrives at Maryborough Railway Station

• Walk to Phillips Botanical Gardens for a picnic lunch

• 1:10pm - Walk back to Maryborough Railway Station

• 1:30pm - Guided tour of Maryborough Railway Station

• 2:57pm - Train departs Maryborough

• 3:52pm - Train arrives at Ballarat Railway Station

• Bookings are essential and places are limited

• Participants are responsible for making their own way to and from Ballarat Railway Station

• This activity is for Ballarat residents aged 55 years and over

• Please fill out the required fields when registering including dietary requirements

Mobility: This outing involves walking to and from the picnic location, boarding and disembarking trains, navigating train stations and participating in a guided walking tour of Maryborough Railway Station. It's recommended for people with good mobility.
