MICHAEL DUNSTAN
Michael Dunstan is a pensive Perth-based folk writer born in Wheatbelt Western Australia, with a peaceful focus on all things bigger than us.Born and raised in the quaint Wheatbelt of WA,Michaelโs career has seen the 26year old expand his horizons as his music takes him around Australia and New Zealand, however that doesnโt mean heโs left his original roots in the dust. His laid-back attitude and preference for a slower pace of life is exemplified in his music, which is rooted in a mix of traditional folk and relaxed surf-rock styles.
His lyrics are open and honest, and they seek to reflect travel, serenity, and growth. With a diverse catalogue of โthoughtful, warm folk music that at once feels universal & intimateโ (Music Feeds) Michael has swiftly sprawled his intricate song writing globally since the release of his debut EP โSolaceโ inJanuary 2017. He followed up with a sophomore EP โPartly Cloudyโ, brooding EP โNormalโ and now an offering of perspective, the 14 track debut album โIn The Grand Schemeโ.To date the releases have loyally garnered in excess of over 8 million streams on Spotify alone. With the release of โIn The Grant Schemeโ, Michael managed to reach his audience who not only appreciates his songs but empathises with them also.Openly sharing personal past struggles with anxiety, Michael hopes to leave all with a piece of mindfulness, and share anew-found appreciation of the beautiful world in which we live
SYDNEE CARTER
Growing up in Perthโs Northern Suburbs, Sydneeโs grasp on performing was swift. Always wanting to be the centre of attention as a child, she would wield a black electric guitar everywhere she went, eventually learning how to play it when her parents observed her interest in music and enrolled her in guitar lessons while in primary school. At ten years old, she would watch YouTube tutorials of her favourite songs and attempt to create similar music of her own in her first experiences with songwriting, one that she cringes when looking back on. โAll of the songs were about how being a tomboy, I just saw all the boys at school as friends, and how I got so frustrated when the girls started wanting all their attention,โ she laughs.
Eventually, her determination and quickly evolving skillset meant that school assemblies and talent shows would change to studio sessions and award ceremonies within just a few years. Now, Sydnee Carter now being multi-West Australian Music (WAM) Award winner, with collaborations alongside Paces, SLUMBERJACK, 360 and Kuren all under her belt early on. The versatility of her own work changed too, with the folk-like backings of her introductory self-titled EP in 2015, now branching out into a cross-pollination of sounds: indie, pop, electronica, hip-hop and beyond all fused with Sydneeโs charm and expertiseย ๐ถ
INDIA BRADSHAW
India Bradshawโs gentle melodies and intimate songwriting invite you into her world of longing. This West Coast daydreamer's honeyed vocals and stripped-back acoustic instrumentation fuse to conjure a sound that is both charmingly retro, and unmistakably India ๐ถ
