About the Workshop
School meetings are inevitable when you have a child with disability and can either be highly productive or a source of great stress and anxiety! School meetings provide the chance to communicate your vision and hopes for your child, share valuable information about them and their learning, and contribute to planning for their inclusion and participation. However without some planning beforehand, parents can end up leaving a meeting feeling disempowered.
This online workshop will outline some key ideas for preparing well for school meetings. Come along and explore how to avoid getting bogged down in unresolved ‘problems’, and instead promote effective conversations and a spirit of collaboration around your child.
It will cover:
- Understanding school meeting processes and your rights
- Clarifying your role and purpose in school meetings
- Pre-meeting preparation to avoid common traps and achieve your goals
- Staying calm and focused on your child’s education during emotive conversations
- Effective meeting follow up
This workshop will be held ONLINE, and a Zoom link will be emailed to you a few days prior to the workshop.
