🧠 Blended Online Youth Mental Health First Aid Course

Be the difference in a young person’s life.
Learn how to support adolescents experiencing a mental health problem, crisis, or worsening of a condition—at home, school, sport, or in the wider community.


📘 About This Course

This is the blended online version of the Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) course, designed for adults who live with, care for, or work with young people aged 12–18.

The course is delivered in two components:

Part 1
💻 Self-paced eLearning (Approx. 5 hours)
Learn at your own pace with interactive online modules developed by MHFA Australia.

Part 2
🎓 Live Instructor-led Webinars
Participate in three live Zoom sessions (2.5 hours each) with a Principal Master Instructor, where you'll apply the eLearning in a supportive and practical setting.


✅ Who Is This Course For?

Perfect for parents, carers, teachers, school staff, youth workers, coaches, and other adults who support adolescents in any setting.

No prior mental health knowledge is required.


✅ What You’ll Learn

This course will give you the knowledge and skills to support a young person who is:

  • Developing a mental health problem

  • Facing a worsening of an existing issue

  • In a mental health crisis

Topics include:

  • Depression and anxiety in young people

  • Eating disorders

  • Substance use

  • Suicidal thoughts and behaviours

  • Non-suicidal self-injury

  • Trauma and aggression

  • Psychosis in adolescence

  • How to respond and refer appropriately

You’ll leave the course with a practical, evidence-based action plan for helping young people access professional care and feel supported.

  • Access to the MHFA eLearning platform

  • Three live online training sessions via Zoom

  • A hard copy YMHFA manual sent to your address

  • Certificate of Accreditation valid for 3 years

  • You must complete Part 1 (eLearning) before attending the Zoom webinars.

  • All links and course materials will be emailed about one week before the first live session—please check your inbox and spam folder.

  • The online version covers the same content as the 14-hour Youth MHFA face-to-face course.

  • High school leadership (Deputy Principal)

  • Special education

  • Mental health training and support in education, health, and disability sectors
