How does an online discussion board work?

You will be asked to provide comments on the proposed Stage 2 reforms to the Transport Standards in a discussion with other transport industry stakeholders.

Over 3 days, you and other participants will be asked a series of questions. You can answer the questions in writing by adding comments and responses to questions. You can participate at any time throughout the 3 days the discussion board is open. Moderators will be encouraging participants to respond and discuss the different reform options.

We will cover the six main parts of the Stage 2 reforms Consultation RIS:

  • Part 2: Information, communication and wayfinding
  • Part 3: Accessibility at stations, stops, wharves and access routes
  • Part 4: Accessibility of boarding and alighting and egress of infrastructure
  • Part 5: Accessibility in conveyance
  • Part 6: Implementation approach

You will be given a log in and password to use before the discussion boards start.

About the Stage 2 reforms of the Transport Standards

Australia has standards for public transport to make sure everyone can access and use it. These standards make sure providers and operators of public transport understand what they need to do to ensure their services are accessible.

We have already looked at some of the reforms, during Stage 1 last year. Stage 2 is looking at a range of different policy options. These include keeping things the same, or making non-regulatory or regulatory changes.

You can read about the proposed reform options in the Consultation Regulation Impact Statement papers. There is a summary and Easy Read version available.
