Event description

This online engagement is by registration only for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people with lived experience of a a disability, their families and community. First Nations people and non-Indigenous allies who have experience working with or caring for an Aboriginal and or Torres Strait Islander person with a disability are welcome to attend.

First Nations communities have the answers about what is needed to create a better future where their voices are heard, and their rights are respected.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Social Justice Commissioner Katie Kiss is embarking on a landmark listening tour to inform her agenda for her five-year term. This initiative is part of the ongoing commitment to ensuring that First Nations voices guide the journey forward, following the outcome of the 2023 Voice Referendum.

Commissioner Kiss will meet with First Nations communities to hear their perspectives on the key social justice issues that affect them. This extensive consultation will form the basis of a discussion paper, contributing to the Social Justice Report in 2025, and will shape the next steps in the collective efforts toward reconciliation and equality.

Please note this event is via Microsoft Teams and capped at 30 participants. For any support to access this online event please email tara.apps@humanrights.gov.au.
