    Description:

As we settle deeper into winter, Northwest Grief Tending invites you to our Online Grief & Gratitude Ritual on February 10th, 2025. This date falls after the presidential inauguration that continues to stir grief and anger for many of us—grief for the rise of injustices, deepening divisions, and the societal harm that followed. As we navigate the ongoing effects of this time, we are also in the heart of winter, a season that invites reflection and stillness, and just before Imbolc, the Celtic midwinter festival that gently reminds us of the return of light and renewal, even in the darkest times.

Some of you may be grappling with the seasonal and political complexity of this time, while others may be carrying deep personal losses or something completely different. This gathering provides a space for you to connect with community and bring whatever may be on your heart.

During this 2-hour gathering, we will light a candle together and join in song, poetry, movement, and deep listening to honor our collective grief & gratitude. This flow will follow a ritual format, which includes opening and closing our circle with intention and weaving in beauty throughout our time together. By reaching for each other, we find the courage and support to face what needs tending, keep our hearts open, and return to what matters most.

Our gatherings honor all forms of grief including from losses, change and transitions, pain and wounding from our past, sorrows for our world (planetary, societal, racial, cultural), loss of village and belonging, ancestral grief, and anything else present. There is no grief too big or too small for our circles.

      Facilitator:

Siena Tenisci, MA, LMHC, is a therapist and founder of Northwest Grief Tending, a practice dedicated to the facilitation of grief rituals and community healing. As a descendant of Abruzzese and Celtic lineages, Siena has been working to revive ancestral keening traditions, where women once held central and respected roles in helping communities metabolize grief through vocal and communal rituals. With over ten years of experience, her approach to grief work has been shaped by many teachers, including Sobonfu and Malidoma Somé, Joanna Macy, Therese Charvet, Laurence Cole, Francis Weller, and Vince Horan. Siena’s work is also grounded in her MA in Counseling from Antioch University in Seattle, integrating Internal Family Systems, body-based methods, and anti-oppression frameworks to support clients on their healing paths.
