(Online) Info and Feedback Session for Banyule's Community Climate Resilience Plan
Description
Join us to learn about Banyule's Community Climate Resilience Plan and provide your feedback before it is adopted
In this session we will:
present the document and its action plan
collect your feedback on the plan and actions through an activity and discussion
Over the last two years, we drafted Banyule's first climate adaptation plan and combined it with our previous community climate action plan which focused largely on reducing carbon emissions.
The new Community Climate Resilience Plan focuses on our community climate mitigation (carbon emissions reduction) and climate adaptation (adjusting to climate impacts) efforts. This plan outlines how we aim to reduce our contributions to climate change, and how we will adjust to climate-related risks like extreme storms, heatwaves, floods, fires and their knock-on effects.
The plan is now open for community consultation with the aim of revising the document again to prepare a final draft for Council to adopt in late September 2026.
We are excited for you to see what we've done with your climate mitigation and adaptation ideas and to hear your feedback!
We created this plan by:
better understanding Banyule's climate-related risks (see our technical document)
conducting six-weeks of community engagement to help us design the plan (see our findings report)
holding monthly co-design sessions with staff who provided input into the plan
working with the Banyule Environment and Climate Action Advisory Committee made up of residents to prioritise our climate risks
creating a best-practice methodology to create and implement the plan (see our methods document)
The Community Climate Resilience Plan is written to be a high-level document for a general audience. We have supporting documents like those linked above and a methodology document which goes into deeper detail about how we created the plan and why we took the approach we did. You can find all supporting documents in our document library on our Shaping Banyule page.
