Online Launch of 'Reading and Writing for Change' #1

Reading and Writing for Change by Amelia Walker explores the many ways in which creative writers take part in fighting injustices and pushing for positive change. To celebrate its release, this event features readings from writers around the world whose works epitomise the spirit of reading and writing for change.

The event will begin with a reading by Paul Collis, 2016 winner of the prestigious David Unaipon award, and author of the Foreword to Reading and Writing for Change. Following Paul's reading we will hear from leading contemporary writers including Oz Hardwick, Bashabi Fraser, Samantha Faulkner, Shamser Sinha, Ranu Uniyal, Roula-Maria Dib, Willo Drummond, Sharon Kivland, Yuwei Gou, Timothy Mathews, Emily Orley, Natalie Damjanovich-Napoleon, Ursula Hurley, and Zinia Mitra

This style of launch is intended to emphasise one of the key points the book makes – that creative writing is at its best about communities, conversations, and working together towards a kinder world. Readers and attendees are encouraged to cross-promote their own works and network new connections to continue pressing and essential conversations about how readers and writers can work together to affect positive changes in our world.
