Mental Health First Aid is designed for any member of the community to learn essential life skills in curiosity, empathy, listening, and what to do if someone you know is experiencing mental health challenges.

Learn essential skills to support friends, family members and colleagues.

Explore how to assist a friend, family member, or other members of the community who is developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis. 

What will I learn?

  • Recognise common mental health issues
  • Provide initial help using a practical, evidence-based Action Plan
  • Respond in a Mental Health crisis situation
  • Seek appropriate professional help

Condensed - We condense the standard 2 day face-to-face training into six hours of self-paced online learning plus two live Zoom sessions.

What will I get?

  • A Mental Health First Aid Manual
  • Access to Online Learning (6 hours)
  • Two live Online Workshops with an experienced and Mental Health First Aid Australia Accredited Instructor
  • Certificate of Accreditation (valid for 3 years)

What does the program include?

In order to qualify for a Certificate of Accreditation (valid for 3 years), participants must complete the Online Learning, attend both Workshops, and complete the Accreditation Assessment.

When can I do it?


Oct 2023 Program (AEST / Australian Eastern Standard Time - Brisbane / Sydney / Melbourne)
Workshop 1: Wed 18 Oct 12:30-3pm 
Workshop 2: Wed 25 Oct 12:30-3pm 

Bookings close one week before the first workshop to allow sufficient time for online learning.

Who are the workshop facilitators?

Caitlin Marshall is an experienced trainer and facilitator. She holds a Certificate IV in Teaching & Training. Caitlin has been a teacher and trainer in Community Services, Domestic Violence and Vicarious Trauma. She co-designed MakeShift: Creativity on Prescription, a program that is pioneering alternative mental health support in NSW.
