How to get tech ready for this online workshop
Attending an online event at UWA is easy! We use Microsoft Teams to run most of our online workshops, and there are just a couple of quick things for you to do to get things running smoothly.
Option 1: Download the MS Teams desktop or mobile app
The best way to attend is by using the MS Teams app, downloaded to your laptop, desktop or mobile device.
On a laptop/desktop
Download and install the MS Teams desktop app, and sign-in using your Uni-ID (studentnumber@student.uwa.edu.au and Pheme password).
On a mobile or tablet
Search for and download the Microsoft Teams app on the iOS App Store or Google Play Store, and sign-in using your Uni-ID (studentnumber@student.uwa.edu.au and Pheme password).
Option 2: Internet browser
If you can't download the desktop or mobile app, you can use the latest version of a browser such as Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge (Chromium), but interactivity tends to be limited in many other browsers. Make sure your software is updated and that you’ve recently restarted your device.
Troubleshooting
I'm in the session but I can't see or hear anything.
This can happen if you are using an older or unsupported internet browser instead of the Teams app. Check that your browser is updated to the latest version, or try switching to a different browser, eg Chrome or Microsoft Edge.
I'm waiting to be let into the workshop
When you first click into the session, you may first be placed in a virtual lobby. You might have to wait a minute or so for the host to admit you from the lobby.
The link isn't working
Check that you've downloaded the MS Teams app correctly, or updated your browser. Click the workshop link directly from your confirmation email.
