Governments are working together to design and deliver additional supports in the community. These are known as Foundational Supports. Foundational Supports are specific supports that would be outside the NDIS to help people with disability, and their families and carers.

This consultation event is about General foundational supports (called General Supports). General Supports will include things like trusted information and guidance, peer supports and capacity building that help people and their families to engage in the community and to advocate for – and make decisions about – matters that affect them.

    About the online roundtables

These roundtables will be held via Microsoft Teams. They will go for 2 hours. *A link to access the event will be emailed to you prior to the event.

These roundtables are for anyone with an interest in general foundational supports.

You will be asked for your ideas about what you and your community needs to improve:

    • access to trustworthy information, including information about services
    • skills and capacity of individuals to make decisions and connect within their community
    • support for families and carers to empower them in their role as carers
    • information to help community organisations and public services to be more inclusive to the needs of people with disability.

Feedback received through these engagement activities will inform thinking on the design of general foundational supports.

The Department of Social Services is leading the consultations. For more information about Foundational Supports, please contact foundational.supports@dss.gov.au.
