Join award-winning author and writing mentor Laurie Steed (Writing WA) for this online workshop as he demystifies the publishing process, works through submitting to agents and publishers and gives you a behind the scenes look at the industry as a whole, and the ways you can increase your chances of a successful submission.
About the Presenter
Laurie Steed is an award-winning author, mentor and manuscript assessor from Perth, Western Australia. His debut novel You Belong Here was published in 2018 and shortlisted for the 2018 Western Australian Premier’s Book Awards. His second book, the memoir, Love, Dad, was published in 2023. His third book and debut short story collection, Greater City Shadows, was published by UWA Publishing in 2024. It won the 2021 Henry Handel Flagship Fellowship for Short Story Writing and was shortlisted for the 2022 Dorothy Hewett Award for an Unpublished Manuscript. In May, 2024, he was shortlisted for the WA Writer's Fellowship at the 2024 Western Australian Premier's Book Awards. When he's not writing, he is the Partnerships and Development Manager for Writing WA, the peak body for writers in Western Australia.
