“Everything I have experienced in my life I use to make art.” — Anna Halprin
What if our lived experience could become a source for creative expression? What becomes possible when we let art illuminate our life—and our life inspire our art? How can this way of working deepen the way we meet ourselves and others?
Join Dr. Rosario Sammartino for a three-hour experiential workshop exploring the Tamalpa Life/Art Process®, a somatic-based interdisciplinary approach that weaves together movement/dance, drawing, creative writing, and reflection to open new ways of relating to our life experience. Here, the creative process becomes a way of knowing—taking us beyond the familiar and into new possibilities for expression, discovery, and change.
Participants will be guided through foundational TLAP practices and frameworks, including the Three Levels of Awareness and Response, the Psychokinetic Imagery Process (PKIP), and the Five-Part Process. Through direct experience, reflection, and discussion, we will deepen our understanding of these practices and consider how they can become resources for personal inquiry and our work with others.
This workshop welcomes those new to the Life/Art Process®, as well as those who want to deepen their understanding and application of the practice. No previous movement or art experience is necessary.
To get the most out of these online classes, please prepare a comfortable space to move in with access to your online device and reliable internet service. If you are using a handheld device, such as a pad or phone, please be sure to use a stand for your device so that it is held securely in place. You will want to have your hands free and be able to move freely and safely during movement exercises without worrying about your device falling. Have art supplies ready at hand for the drawing activity and paper and pen for journaling and creative writing exercises.
Workshops are for ages 18+ only and disability access is not provided.
