This workshop is run by Rachel Allan from The Neuropathways Collective (formerly Southern Social Work & Counselling Services) who has over 7 years' experience in the NDIS in different roles.
This is a small workshop and will be facilitated using an online platform.
This workshop is ideal for social workers who need a more in depth, group focussed collaboration to further understand writing a FCA within the NDIS sector for participants.
The goal of the workshop is for you as a social worker to feel confident to write a Functional Capacity Assessment report within the NDIS sector.
You will gain the knowledge and insight of:
FCA Overview
- What to write in a FCA report
- Who you can write FCA reports for
- Understanding the concept and structure of the FCA report
FCA process and assessment tools
- What assessments you can use/for who/where to find them and costs involved etc
- Understanding the format of the FCA report
- Breaking down the FCA report template

- Understanding the holistic framework
- Evidence based reporting
- Professional and ethical standards
In this workshop you will:
- Be able to ask questions during the workshop and collaborate
- Get a breakdown of how to use assessment tools/where to access the different assessment tools and sample interpretation of results of common assessments used for FCA reports
- Have access to sample FCA reports to be able to reflect on - Different Allied Health Professions and different disabilities
Workshop outcomes:
Be able to define the rationale behind FCA reports
Demonstrate understanding of the NDIS and who to write FCA reports for within the NDIS context
Demonstrate practical knowledge about functional domains
Understand NDIS reasonable and necessary for FCA reports
Understand the standardised assessments, where to find them and in when to apply them
Feel confident to apply a holistic framework for assessing and writing FCA reports
