This workshop is run by Rachel Allan from The Neuropathways Collective (formerly Southern Social Work & Counselling Services) who has over 7 years' experience in the NDIS in different roles.

This is a small workshop and will be facilitated using an online platform.

This workshop is ideal for social workers who need a more in depth, group focussed collaboration to further understand writing a FCA within the NDIS sector for participants.

The goal of the workshop is for you as a social worker to feel confident to write a Functional Capacity Assessment report within the NDIS sector.

You will gain the knowledge and insight of:

FCA Overview

- What to write in a FCA report

- Who you can write FCA reports for

- Understanding the concept and structure of the FCA report

FCA process and assessment tools

- What assessments you can use/for who/where to find them and costs involved etc

- Understanding the format of the FCA report

- Breaking down the FCA report template

Social Work overview

- Understanding the holistic framework

- Evidence based reporting

- Professional and ethical standards

In this workshop you will:

- Be able to ask questions during the workshop and collaborate

- Get a breakdown of how to use assessment tools/where to access the different assessment tools and sample interpretation of results of common assessments used for FCA reports

- Have access to sample FCA reports to be able to reflect on - Different Allied Health Professions and different disabilities

Workshop outcomes:

  • Be able to define the rationale behind FCA reports

  • Demonstrate understanding of the NDIS and who to write FCA reports for within the NDIS context

  • Demonstrate practical knowledge about functional domains

  • Understand NDIS reasonable and necessary for FCA reports

  • Understand the standardised assessments, where to find them and in when to apply them

  • Feel confident to apply a holistic framework for assessing and writing FCA reports
