Event description

The average age of directors in Aotearoa is 60, and it is trending up. However, we know it is important to have young voices in governance roles.

Gen Z and Millennials make up the majority of the job market, yet don't always have much input in top-level decision-making.

The Social Change Collective is hosting a free online workshop, spread over two nights, as a crash course for young people looking to better understand the world of governance.

Session 1: Tuesday 5th September, 6pm-7.30pm

We'll be joined by Rose Hiha-Agnew, CEO at Community Governance Aotearoa, to explore the world of governance and discover why it's the cornerstone of effective decision-making. Get insider insights on how governance shapes the path to a brighter future for Aotearoa.

💡 We’ll discuss the pivotal role young voices play in transforming the landscape of leadership. Learn why your perspective matters and how your unique insights can spark innovation and progress.

💼 Unlock Your Potential: Roll up your sleeves and dive into interactive breakout rooms where you'll tackle real-world workshop exercises. Get hands-on experience and supercharge your skills for governance greatness!

🚀 We’ll wrap up the session with a sneak peek into exciting up-skilling avenues. We'll guide you on where to find ongoing support and resources to amplify your impact.

Session 2: Wednesday 6th September, 6pm-7.30pm

🌟 We’ll be joined by Sophie Handford, Councillor at Kāpiti Coast District Council; Te Pūoho Katene, experienced governor and Executive Director of Te Pūtea Whakatupu Trust, and Devon Murphy-Davids, CEO at Inspiring Stories, who've charted their path in governance. Through a panel discussion, you’ll gain insights from their journeys and gather wisdom from those who've been at the helm of transformative decisions.

🎙️ Your Voice, Your Questions: You’ll engage directly with our panelists, ask burning questions, and tap into a wealth of knowledge that could steer your own governance adventure.

🔗 You’ll connect with fellow changemakers who, just like you, are on a mission to challenge the status quo.
