Event description

The average age of directors in Aotearoa is 60, and it is trending up. However, we know it is important to have young voices in governance roles.

Gen Z and Millennials make up the majority of the job market, yet don't always have much input in top-level decision-making.

The Social Change Collective is hosting a free online workshop, spread over two nights, as a crash course for young people looking to better understand the world of governance.

Session 1: 6pm-7pm Tuesday 29 March

We will go over the basics. What is governance? Why is it important? And why should young people get involved?

The second half of this session will be spent in break out rooms where you will have a go at the workshop exercise.

We'll wrap up by briefly going over some other up-skilling options and where to go for further support.

Session 2: 6pm-7pm Wednesday 30 March

On the second night we will open the conversation up to our wonderful panel! Come and hear from these inspiring leaders about their experience in governance and have the chance to ask them your questions. We will hear from:

  • Chlöe Swarbrick, Member of Parliament for Auckland Central
  • Pru Etcheverry ONZM, Director of Advocacy Answers New Zealand
  • Tamatha Paul, Councillor Wellington City Council, Pukehīnau/Lambton Ward

A big thank you to the wonderful J R McKenzie Trust who is making the workshops possible.

See you online!
