    Event description

Imagine young people coming together from communities across the planet to plan how they can tackle challenges like climate change, food, water, energy, inequity and create positive social change. YOUth LEADing the World (YLTW) is an OzGREEN initiative that enables young people to find their voice and become active participants in creating fairer futures. Youth leadership, social innovation and community driven change are key

Central to YLTW is an energising and transformative youth leadership Congress, conducted over 3-days. Young people come together from multiple locations to  learn first hand from each other about the challenges they face and together develop a vision and innovate action plans they will deliver to help create a fairer future.

OzGREEN and Climate Change and Consciousness (CCC) have teamed up to amplify the capacity of young people to lead a grass roots movement and accelerate the transformation of communities. This Facilitator Training program will support the upcoming Youth Leading the World Online Global Congress that will be held over 3 days 23-24-25 October 2020 (Sydney Time).

Facilitator training is open age. Real-time live online training makes the training accessible to international and remote communities.

Through YLTW, OzGREEN is openly sharing the skills and experience we have gained over 30 years of delivering recognised excellence in transformative sustainability leadership programs.

Key focus areas in the Facilitator Training include:

      • Pulse of the Planet presentation and engagement skills
      • Ecological footprint skills
      • How to facilitate a group process that moves from overwhelm into empowerment
      • Participatory leadership skills
      • Strategic Questioning and deep listening skills
      • Visioning, innovation and creative thinking skills
      • VIBRANT goals and action planning skills

      Once trained you can:

          • Help OzGREEN and CCC facilitate our online YLTW Global Congress 23-24-25 October 2020
          • Run a YLTW Congress in your own region

YLTW gives people solution-focused tools to tackle sustainability challenges, generate a vision and innovate action plans.

To date OzGREEN has trained over 1,000 people from across the world from a wide age range of backgrounds and experience (including youth, youth workers, local and state government, school, University and TAFE students, teachers, professionals, corporate executives, parents, grandparents).

Fundamental to the success of OzGREEN's approach is the understanding that local communities are best equipped to understand how change can happen in their local area. We seek to strengthen community resilience and capacity to create innovative ways to tackle sustainability challenges and connect change makers locally, nationally and globally.

OzGREEN's Sustainability in Action process embodies leading edge learning and leadership methodologies such as transformative learning, participatory leadership, vision driven and strength based approach, deep listening and strategic questioning.

The process facilitates movement through 4-stages:

          Focus

Mapping where we are now - an up to date, hard hitting background briefing about local and international environmental challenges

          Vision

Reflection, questioning and visioning processes to develop a vision for yourself and your community as sustainability leaders

          Change

Creative thinking, innovation and brainstorming ideas for change

          Action

Practical goal setting and action planning for personal and community change.
This approach demonstrably fosters local ownership and harnesses the passion and intelligence residing in young people.
