Description

📍 Werribee Gorge Circuit
📅 Saturday 09 Jan 2027
🕙 Meet at 10:00am at Myers Road Trailhead Parking. https://maps.app.goo.gl/1neGKhnULxHz3kUS7

Join us for a relaxed and social group hike through one of Victoria's most rewarding gorge landscapes. The Werribee Gorge Circuit follows the Werribee River through rugged terrain, rocky climbs, and open ridgeline views, with a section of cable-assisted rock traverse adding a touch of adventure along the way.

This event is designed for people who enjoy getting outdoors, meeting new people, and challenging themselves at their own pace. Whether you're a regular hiker or just getting started, you're welcome to join.

This is an adult-only (18+) event. Unfortunately we're unable to accommodate pets, though registered assistance animals are welcome — dogs aren't permitted on this trail.

Walk Difficulty

This is considered a moderate to challenging walk due to rocky, uneven terrain, steady climbs, and a short cable-assisted section along the gorge wall.

  • Approx. 8km loop

  • Mix of riverside track, rocky climbs, and ridgeline trail, including a short section requiring a fixed cable handrail

  • Allow around 3-4 hours depending on pace

  • Good fitness recommended — sturdy footwear is essential

We'll take breaks as needed, including a stop at the Eastern Lookout, and keep the group together.

Getting There
Werribee Gorge State Park is about 1 hour's drive from Melbourne CBD, depending on traffic and your starting point. Access is by car only — there's no public transport to the park.

Parking is available at the Myers Road Trailhead.

Carpooling is encouraged for those who'd like to share a ride — an optional WhatsApp group link will be sent at least a week before the event, so you can coordinate lifts directly with other attendees. Please note the carpool arrangements are between individuals, and Oot & Aboot isn't involved in organising specific rides. Joining is completely optional — your phone number may be visible to other members — and the group will be deleted 3 days after the event.
