Creative & Restorative Mindful Movement is a space for activists, caretakers, creatives, leaders, and frontline workers, particularly those from Global Majority* communities, who want to connect body, mind, and spirit for intuitive movement; and to move together in an authentic way with our full dignity. No dance or movement experience required.

In these sessions we will:

  • Connect body, mind, and spirit for intuitive and authentic movement
  • Explore awareness of your internal and external worlds
  • Connect with others who are building new ways of being

Each session starts with a check in circle to know who is in the room and to set an intention. Then you will be guided through some short orienting and grounding exercises, and then be invited to free and open movement guided by music, our intentions, from what's present in our bodies, and the world around us. We will be sharing space "alone together", and always welcomed to encounters with mutual consent.

There will also be some art supplies available, sensory stations, and maybe oracle cards.

*The term Global Majority was introduced by Rosemary Campbell-Stephens in 2003 as a way to challenge the normativity of a white “majority” or Eurocentric perspective.

Details:

* We will consent as a group to whether masks will be used for the entire session or not. Windows and door will be opened weather permitting, and air filter available at the studio.

* Bring: Comfortable clothing to move around. Sleepers or socks, since studio is a "shoes-off" space. Your water bottle. A journal and pen. And an open heart to explore new ways of being

* At Awakenings Wellness Center 1016 SE 12th Ave,Portland, OR 97214
