Event description

Our panel will feature John Menadue, then Secretary of PM and C and present at Government House, Tom Wharton, then Usher of the Black Rod in the Senate and Jack Waterford, Canberra Times.

Join us to hear firsthand what really happened on 11 November 1975 at Government House and then in Parliament before the announcement on the steps of Old Parliament House.

The conversation will be managed by our excellent Open Book Moderator, Greg Turnbull.

When: 5:30pm-8pm, Monday 10 November 2025

Where: Please note NEW venue: ACC Centre, Charles Sturt University, 15 Blackall Street (corner of Kings Avenue). Lots of free parking on site.

A drink on arrival and grazing table are included in the ticket price. Drinks and grazing 5:30pm - 6:15pm. Discussion will start at 6:15pm.
