Open Christchurch 2024: Risingholme Homestead
Event description
Open Christchurch 2024: Risingholme Homestead
Architect: Maxwell Bury, 1864
Explore a historical homestead and rare example of Maxwell Bury’s domestic work, on this hosted tour. Designed for leading liberal newspaper man William Reeves, and later inhabited by his socialist son, it is fitting that this Victorian home later became an early example of a community education centre. Take in the Arts and Crafts style modifications and the heritage-tree rich grounds.
