Open Haven Ltd is a community-based organization that assists women survivors of domestic violence abuse. We are unique in that we are a post crisis service that helps women to rebuild their lives to become self-sufficient and independent within the community. Women and children come to one of our 3 hubs on a weekly basis where we create a personalized plan to help women reach their goals. It could be assistance with gaining a driving license, obtaining a skill or qualification, finding employment, assistance with paperwork and general advocacy. We offer them long term support until they are fully established and thriving within their community.
Women who have escaped DV are often dealing with the after-effects of isolation, coercion and abuse, resulting in PTSD. These women lack the resources necessary to rebuild their lives, and this is where Open Haven steps in to provide the emotional and practical support in order for them to succeed.
The beautiful thing is that Open Haven Ltd continues its support of each woman under their care until each woman can financially and emotionally support herself and her children. This continuation of care, sometimes over years, is what the survivors need and rely on. Open Haven Ltd transforms their lives, so much so that some of the women return as volunteers to pay it forward to the next survivor.
