Description

Visit space efficient verges, vibrant habitat gardens and rewilded lifestyle blocks - all open to the public for one special day as part of the Leschenault Catchment Council's second Open Nature Gardens event!

Feed your curiosity, be inspired and explore some beautiful gardens in our backyard!

How it works:

  1. Register - it's free!

  2. Check your inbox the evening before the event. We'll send you a complete map of all garden locations so you can plan your route, along with parking details for each site.

Curious about what's on show? Head to our website now for a full list of participating gardens including descriptions, photos and unique features > www.leschenaultcc.org.au/garden-descriptions

Special feature: Live Native Verge Transformation! This year we are thrilled to feature a LIVE native verge transformation led by Chris Ferreira from the Forever Project. Hosted at a suburban block in South Bunbury, this demonstration will show you step-by-step how to turn your verge into a thriving, waterwise, native patch. Capacity for the demonstration is limited and tickets are required.

Purchase tickets separately for the live verge transformation here: https://events.humanitix.com/verge-transformation-with-chris-ferreira

Planning your route? Grab a coffee or bite to eat along the way! A huge thank you to our local cafe partners for supporting this event; Bahlu, South Bunbury; and Brunswick Cafe and Drive-Thru.

Other important event information:

  • Parking and getting around: To help keep streets clear and safe, please park in suggested parking areas on your event map and walk to nearby gardens wherever possible. To reduce traffic and lower our impact, we strongly encourage carpooling or cycling between gardens.

  • What to bring: We recommend bringing a refillable water bottle, hat, sun protection and sturdy walking shoes.

  • Garden etiquette: Please be respectful to gardeners and treat their private spaces with care. Stick to designated paths, leave pets at home, and ensure you are wearing clean foot wear before entering each garden to help prevent the spread of soil-borne diseases.

  • Accessibility: We strive to make Open Nature Gardens as inclusive as possible. However, due to uneven terrain or steps, some private gardens present access difficulties for wheelchair users or those with limited mobility. Please check individual garden descriptions for accessibility details and get in touch if you'd like some more information.

  • Photography: a photographer will be taking photos throughout the day for promotional purposes. If you prefer not to be photographed, please inform an event organiser or photographer on site.

  • Questions? Contact reception@leschenaultcc.org.au

The Open Nature Gardens event is made possible by a Lotterywest grant, and Water Corporation.
