Event description

Open Studio provides an invaluable opportunity for students across disciplines—including architecture, urban planning, landscape architecture, urban design, and property development—to gain first-hand insight into professional practice. Through the presentation of real time projects, students see how a practice operates and what role a graduate plays within a practice.

GML Heritage is a leading Australian heritage and archaeological consultancy, connecting people and place for over 30 years. With offices in Melbourne, Canberra, and Sydney, their multidisciplinary team includes archaeologists, architects, historians, Aboriginal Cultural Values specialists, built and landscape heritage experts, interpretation planners, and designers.

Students are invited to learn about the daily workings of GML Heritage through real-time and past projects, offering a tangible understanding of workflows, problem-solving approaches, and collaborative dynamics.

Hear from Edwina Jans, Head of GML Victoria; Dr Helen Doyle, historian; Kristine Slawinski, heritage interiors specialist; Emma Moore, archaeologist; Chairim Byun, heritage resilience specialist, and recent graduates.

This Open Studio will also be an opportunity for students to provide their feedback on the Draft Melbourne Heritage Strategy: Stories of People and Place.

This event is designed for current architecture and design students.

In partnership with City of Melbourne, Open House Melbourne is running consultation activities for the Draft Melbourne Heritage Strategy: Stories of People and Place. Learn more here.
