Event description

Hosted by Strong Women Talking the Open Thinking Conference draws on 60,000 years of knowledge and Australia's shared history to help guide mainstream services to work in more culturally appropriate and respectful ways.

The Open Thinking Conference framework will be based on Truth Telling, Grounded in “Freedom – Our Way”. Valuing the voices of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Led and Controlled businesses, organisations and service delivery addressing:

  • Liberated in our own Self-Determination.
  • Community Led and Controlled Organisations
  • Grounded in our Cultural Frameworks connections.
  • Where we make our own decisions
  • Community Led Solutions

Over a full two-day line up you will hear from profound and electrifying First Nations Leaders. They will be speaking with first-hand experience, knowledge and insight into living and working with our First Nations women, men and families on the ground every day.

Aligning with this year’s NAIDOC theme "Keep the Fire Burning - Blak Loud and Proud!" our passionate speakers have expansive insight and representation of the enduring strength and vitality of the unyielding spirit of communities to stand and amplify voices that have been silenced for too long.

Strong Women Talking is a First Nations grass roots domestic violence prevention agency that are passionate to see the cycle of violence broken by educating equipping and empowering. We believe the Open Thinking Conference will give mainstream services and wider communities an opportunity to walk alongside us and hear firsthand, as we lead you into culturally safe yarns that will help you to better understand and work with our mob.
