OPEN UP YOUR SONGWRITING
a practical guide to open and alternate tunings

Open and alternate guitar tunings are used across countless genres — from rock, blues and folk to indie, pop, metal, ambient and experimental music. By changing the notes of your open strings, you can unlock rich, resonant sounds, new chord shapes and completely different ways of approaching the guitar.

Championed by artists including Robert Johnson, Keith Richards, Joni Mitchell, Duane Allman and Neil Young, open tunings unlock rich, resonant chords and new approaches to songwriting. Because some chords can be played with a single finger or simpler shapes and fewer finger movements, they can also make guitar more accessible for players with limited hand strength, mobility or dexterity.

Who it’s for:

Guitarists of all abilities and musical styles who want to explore new sounds and songwriting approaches, as well as guitarists who may find traditional chord shapes or complex finger movements difficult.

Payment Details:

NDIS

If you have an eligible NDIS Plan you will need to use this to pay for your participation. Your Plan will be charged at NDIS Price Guide rates, or if self managed, at a negotiated rate, for the hours of support provided. We usually charge your Core budget under Community Participation support item codes, but can also charge your Capacity Building budget if there’s funding available.

Non NDIS

If you are not NDIS funded and have no other funded support, we have various levels of cash fees depending on your situation.
